Jason Perilla centers his practice on intellectual property law, with an emphasis on practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Jason's practice focuses on patent application preparation and prosecution in the electrical, software, and mechanical fields.  Jason’s practice also includes trademark application and prosecution, intellectual property dispute resolution and counseling, licensing, patent and trademark litigation, patentability opinions, freedom to operate opinions, patent portfolio management, and other types of counseling.

Jason is also experienced with patent reexamination and post-grant proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) at the USPTO and has acted as lead counsel on several reexamination and post-grant proceedings.

Jason served as a primary patent examiner at the USPTO, focusing on U.S. Class 375, digital communications.  At the USPTO, Jason became familiar with industry-leading digital data modulation, demodulation, coding, decoding, and spread spectrum techniques.  Leveraging that experience, Jason has prepared and prosecuted hundreds of U.S. and foreign patents in the fields of software, semiconductors, communications, control systems, power conversion systems, medical devices, and mechanical devices and systems, among others.  Jason regularly interfaces with trusted counsel at law firms internationally and actively handles patent and trademark prosecution matters in many foreign jurisdictions.
